Spring break..

My kids have been on spring break this week. We have been busy catching up on house things like painting my bedroom & cleaning out closets as well as spending some time with family & friends!

It is a beautiful here today.. in the 6os! I love this weather & can't wait for things to sprout! ;)

d.i.y. vintage scarf turban

Happy Easter weekend everyone!! I thought it would be fun to share a little diy with you.

My friend Jenny stopped by my shop one day before I closed & had a scarf in her hair like this. I thought it was such a cute idea. I guess turbans are very "in" right now.. but honestly I don't like most of them!

..but I love this look. Simple yet so cute & vintage looking. I took an extra long hair scarf, tied it in a knot & tucked in the ends.



There is really no right or wrongs... you could even loosen up the scarf a bit & wear it with a wider band.



I am trying to grow my hair out.. so it is a great way to keep my unruly hair under control!!



I am excited to look for more vintage scarves. I think this look will be a big part of my summer wardrobe.

Spring/Summer 2011 collection....(preview)

I started my spring & summer collection. Initially I was going to start sewing all of the clothing items... but my serger decided to break on me. I decided while it is in for repairs to make some new headbands! I love LOVE love them! I have had this idea in my head for awhile. They are made of vintage lace & rescued faux flowers(that is my fancy word for thrifted).



This is just the first batch. I will have them available at my trunk show May 18th 5-9pm at Laurie Marie Photography studio (my old shop location)



Most of these tie in the back.. but a few were a bit short so I secured them in the back & they slip on.



I will be back with more "previews" as I finish pieces from my new collection! I can't wait to finish each piece so I can share it all with you!

My week...

My week has been filled with vet appointments, organizing my house & decorating... getting ready for Easter.

I love holidays & try to decorate a little for each holiday something I get from my Mom! ;)

Here is our little Easter tree on our dining room table.. actually where I am typing this from!



I finished the kids nook in our family room. I would love to share more pics but our family room has terrible light. I was sooo excited when I realized the vintage typewriters that I bought for my kids awhile ago came out of their cases. They now have a new home on a desk so my kids can type stories n such.



I am almost done with my sewing room. I still have a little bit to do & then I will be ready to sew. Meanwhile I am working on restocking all of the b&m shops that carry my handmade wares.



and twinkle lights are a must in my studio! ;)


We had Dexter neutered this week. Poor guy.. he has recovered pretty quick. Look how big he is.. he barely fits in his bed that we bought him the day we got him. He will be 9 months old in a week!

Bedroom makeover inspiration...

I am hoping to give my bedroom a spring/summer makeover. The thing about my house is it is pretty small & there is only 1 way to put the furniture in each room.. so I can't ever rearrange. We have owned our home just over 5 years now & it is time to change things up a bit.

Here are some inspirational pieces I am thinking about for my new bedroom!

I LOVE this reversable duvet from Urban Outfitter's & it has been getting great reviews in blog land!



I love this dresser found on renest! I actually don't need a dresser but I am thinking this is the color I am going to paint my room!



I have been collecting a few of these .. vintage CREWEL pieces. I am thinking a wall of mix matched pieces above my bed in different sizes .. LOVE!!! ( This one is for sale in a shop on etsy)



LOVE love LOVE this room! I have lots of trees in my yard.. I think I will be on the watch for falling branches! ;) It would look soooo cute with christmas lights hanging on them!



OH MY GOSH!! This pillow! If you look close the word LOVE is in paint by number print! I am pretty sure this pretty lil' pillow from Anthropologie is going on my wish list for my birthday next month!



Now just waiting on our tax return! :)

I have big plans today to finish up my home studio & hopefully get some sewing done this weekend! I have two more shops to fully stock & then I can start on my new clothing line! Stay tuned!!

Spring vintage fair!

I had a great time this past weekend selling my vintage clothing & accessories at The Glitter Worskhop's first Spring vintage fair!
