Spring break..

My kids have been on spring break this week. We have been busy catching up on house things like painting my bedroom & cleaning out closets as well as spending some time with family & friends!

It is a beautiful here today.. in the 6os! I love this weather & can't wait for things to sprout! ;)

d.i.y. vintage scarf turban

Happy Easter weekend everyone!! I thought it would be fun to share a little diy with you.

My friend Jenny stopped by my shop one day before I closed & had a scarf in her hair like this. I thought it was such a cute idea. I guess turbans are very "in" right now.. but honestly I don't like most of them!

..but I love this look. Simple yet so cute & vintage looking. I took an extra long hair scarf, tied it in a knot & tucked in the ends.



There is really no right or wrongs... you could even loosen up the scarf a bit & wear it with a wider band.



I am trying to grow my hair out.. so it is a great way to keep my unruly hair under control!!



I am excited to look for more vintage scarves. I think this look will be a big part of my summer wardrobe.

Spring/Summer 2011 collection....(preview)

I started my spring & summer collection. Initially I was going to start sewing all of the clothing items... but my serger decided to break on me. I decided while it is in for repairs to make some new headbands! I love LOVE love them! I have had this idea in my head for awhile. They are made of vintage lace & rescued faux flowers(that is my fancy word for thrifted).



This is just the first batch. I will have them available at my trunk show May 18th 5-9pm at Laurie Marie Photography studio (my old shop location)



Most of these tie in the back.. but a few were a bit short so I secured them in the back & they slip on.



I will be back with more "previews" as I finish pieces from my new collection! I can't wait to finish each piece so I can share it all with you!

It just hit me that easter is THIS Sunday!! Yikes! We are going to be quite busy, spring break, Easter & a certain little boy in my household is turning *8* soon!
